Citlayi and Vivian are awarded fellowships!

Citlayi Villaseñor, who recently completed her first year as a PhD student in Northwestern’s Interdisciplinary Biological Sciences (IBiS) Graduate Program, is a recipient of the Molecular Biophysics Training Program at Northwestern. The Biophysics training program is funded by the National Institute of General Medical Sciences (NIGMS) of the National Institutes of Health (5T32 GM008382).

Vivian Hu, who recently completed her first year as a PhD student in Northwestern’s Biomedical Engineering Graduate Program, is a recipient of the Synthesizing Biology Across Scales (SynBAS)  National Research Traineeship (NRT) program fellowship. This training program is focused on convergent synthetic biology training for graduate students and is funded by the NSF.

Citlayi will be studying the role of poly unsaturated fatty acids on membrane protein folding and Vivian will be investigating the potential of cell-free protein synthesis to design new vaccines. Congrats Citlayi and Vivian!
